    Another Trip to Circle Circus

Stampin up circle circus splitcoast stampers color challenge SC225
The new Stampin' Up! set, Circle Circus, is incredibly versatile.   Here's a previous sample that offers a more playful look.  My inspiration today is from two resources--Splitcoast Color Challenge SC225 (Kraft, So Saffron and Night of Navy) and a scalloped note card sketch from Clean and Simple (FTL48).
    • I began this card using a Big Shot, Night of Navy card stock and a Bigz Scallop Die.  By folding the card stock and aligning the folded card stock a few scallops below the top, you can create a note card instantly when you run it through a Big Shot.  TIP:  This is one of my favorite uses for this die.  The finished note card is approximately 4" in diameter.  Here's a note card tutorial.
    • My Circle Scissor Plus next came out to play.  I cut a So Saffron and Kraft Circle (I believe at 3 3/4"--but packed it away and forgot to write down the measurement).  The beauty of the Circle Scissor Plus is that you can adjust circles in tiny increments to make the perfect size or layer from 1" to 6".
    • TIP:  I layered a portion of the Kraft circle over the So Saffon layer for a dual colored circle.
    • A strip of Night of Navy Textured Card Stock makes the transition from Kraft to So Saffron look polished.
    • Three circle stamps from Circle Circus were inked in Night of Navy ink and stamped on Kraft card stock.
    • TIP:  When using similar elements like the circles, give each just a touch of their own personality.  I added a Circle Rhinestone Brad, Stampin' Dimensionals, and a So Saffron Circle layer (sandwiched on the bottom circle) to accomplish this.
    • The top circle was cropped with a 1" Circle Punch and layered on a 1 1/4" Circle of Night of Navy.
    • The middle circle was shaped with my Paper Snips.
    • I used a Scallop Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch and 1 1/4" Circle Punch to fashion elements for the bottom circle.
    • The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, inked in Night of Navy and stamped on So Saffron.  TIP:  Please don't feel you always need to stamp colored ink on White or Vanilla. Experiment.
    • "Just for You" was cropped with a Small Oval Punch and layered with a couple Stampin' Dimensionals over a Large Oval Punch in Night of Navy.

Important:  The new Stampin' Up! In Color Bermuda Bay has quality issues in the Ink Pad and Ink Refill.  Stampin' Up! is working diligently on a correction.  In the meantime, 115655: Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad and 115661: Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Ink refill are unavailable.  Ribbon, card stock and other items using the Bermuda Bay color are not affected.

The Stampin' Up! Deal of the Week ends July 6 at 10:50 a.m. CST for on-line orders.  Don't miss your chance to save over 30% on the Scallop Edge Punch.

COMING UP:  My Mojo Monday weekly design and sketch will be waiting for you Monday morning at 7:00 a.m. CST

4th of July Parade of Cards Tomorrow

Kris apple independence day This is a sneak peek of one of the featured cards for my 4th of July Parade of Cards tomorrow morning.  It's a super cool design (love the crisp look employing a simple apple image) by my talented niece and downline, Kris Kilcoyne of Kween Bee Kreations.  More details on the Parade of Cards below!

I'm blogging today while sitting on the only available chair in my Madison home . . . . the floor.  Everything else is packed and on it's way to Tucson (including my complete Stamping Zone---I promise, promise, promise before and after photos of my new zone with a mountain view).

My family slept on the floor last night (no beds) along with the cat and dog, who were basket cases over the removal of "their" furniture.  Mom had to let them in and out several times during the night so that they could feel adequately loved.  Those crazy animals!

I have my laptop during the move and will still be posting cards and ideas regularly on Stampin' Pretty.  My projects were done in advance, although I'm already missing my stamps and paper, sigh.  My Stampin' Up! customers, who are overwhelmingly excited about the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog, will continue to be a top priority and can email me with any product questions.

4TH OF JULY PARADE OF CARDS!  I have such an amazing and talented demonstrator downline (from New York to Hawaii), the Stampin' Pretty Pals.  Not only do they enjoy the discounts and benefits of being a Stampin' Up! demo, we have a virtual blast as a group!  Many of the Pals created 4th of July cards which I will share tomorrow morning as a parade of cards.  You'll definitely be impressed and inspired.  I encourage you to visit their blogs, too.

Interested in becoming a Pal?  Click here for the discounts and benefits, plus two tempting promotions beginning July 15.

If you missed all the excitement of the catalog release and promotions, click here for a tidy summary including downloads to the new catalogs.

    Circle Circus Thank You

    Stampin up circle circus SC235

What a busy day yesterday!  Stampin' Up! released the new catalog and fabulous summer promotions (click here for a summary and a download to the new catty).  In the midst of it all, my husband, daughter and I finished packing up for our move to Tucson.  My tank is running low today (only a couple hours of sleep) but I simply had to share an incredibly easy card that packs a "wow" punch!
    • Stampin up circle circus SC235 close up Using the Circle Circus stamp set (a perfect basic for card elements and making patterns for your own designer paper), I inked up the cute floral circle in Pumpkin Pie.
    • It was stamped five times on Whisper White.
    • TIP:  Stampin' Up!'s circle punches are lovely companions for the Circle Circus set.  I used the 1 3/4" Circle to pop out the circles and sentiment (from Simply Said).
    • The circles were adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals to Old Olive card stock and a 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" Pumpkin Pie card base.
    • The Heart to Heart Punch quickly cropped two Pumpkin Pie hearts and jazzed up the sentiment (also on Dimensionals).
    • For a pretty polish,  I added a strip of Pumpkin Pie 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon.
    • The Medium White Envelope gets a little Circle Circus treatment, too!

My inspiration for today's card came from two sources.  First, I played the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge SC235.  For a change up, I tried  bigger circles but the same overall effect.  Second, I loved the crisp look of Olive and Pumpkin in this home design magazine (below).  TIP:  I pull and save pages like this from clothing and home catalogs when they catch my eye.  If I need an idea, I grab my little pile of imagination.

    Autumn Wedding Invitations

Stampin up darling dots wedding invitation closed
I was thrilled when my nephew and his fiancée asked me to create their wedding invitations.  They asked for a fall/leaf theme, casual and colorful.  I came up with a design (inspired by Taylored Expressions) and commandeered my sisters and niece yesterday for the 6 hour process of assembling invitations with coordinating favor boxes.  The monogrammed boxes will have 4 nuggets tucked inside.  What a fun, fulfilling and exhausting day!
    • This is an A7 card.  It's cut to 10 x 7 and scored to create a 5 x 7 card.  I used Chocolate Chip card stock for the card base.
    • The card base is topped with More Mustard and Very Vanilla.  The Vanilla layer was stamped with the Darling Dots stamp set leaf in More Mustard, Sage Shadow and Really Rust.
    • The band was created using Really Rust Textured card stock and topped with a second band of More Mustard Textured card stock.  As we created more invitations, we ended up just adding a More Mustard panel on the front instead of a second band.  Just as pretty and less work.
    • Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon adds a delicious touch.
    • The "CELEBRATE" sentiment is from Fundamental Phrases, inked in Chocolate Chip and stamped on Sage Shadow.  It's cropped with the Modern Label Punch (available July 1).
    • Using a Crop-A-Dile and Metallic Eyelet (we used all the colors),  the perfect opening for my Linen thread evolved almost silently.  Cool.
Stampin up darling dots wedding invitation open
    • Inside is a pocket, created from Chocolate Chip.  TIP:  A pocket is easy.  Simply cut the size you need plus an extra 1/2" on the width and 1/4" on the height.  Score at 1/4" on each side and 1/4" along the base.  There will be a tiny "square" created by the score marks on the bottom right and left corners.  Snip out the square, fold at the scores adhere.
Stampin up darling dots wedding invitation
    • The "B" monogram was created using Lovely Letters Alphabet, dipped in Really Rust and stamped on Very Vanilla.  It's cropped with a 1 3/8" Circle Punch.
    • The monogram is layered on a Scallop Circle of Really Rust.
    • The wedding couple will print their invitation text for the open side and "stack" their hotel accommodations, directions, etc. on the pocketed side.
Stampin up lovely letters matchbox die
    • This matchbox top uses the same pattern as the front and inside of the invitation. Card stock bases were alternated in Sage Shadow, Really Rust, Chocolate Chip and More Mustard.  Both were fashioned using a Big Shot and Matchbox Bigz XL Die.
    • The monogram was repeated (with a More Mustard Scalloped Circle) to mirror the invitation and a snippet of 1/4" grosgrain completes the process.
JULY 1 IS THE NEW CATALOG RELEASE DATE!  I'LL HAVE THE ON-LINE CATALOG DOWNLOAD AVAILABLE ON MY BLOG SHORTLY AFTER 12:00 NOON MOUNTAIN TIME.  CUSTOMER ORDERS FROM THE NEW CATALOG CAN BE PLACED ON-LINE BEGINNING AT 12:00 MOUNTAIN TIME!

    Mojo Monday 93

Stampin up eastern blooms mojo monday 93

Mojo93Sketch Hot off the press!  Today's Mojo Monday sketch (MOJO93) is balanced and beautiful.  I used a little artistic license to swap the positioning of the sentiment and the brads.  Remember, challenges are meant to inspire not dictate your artwork!
    • Using all the new Stampin' Up! In Colors Markers (available July 1), I colored this Eastern Blooms stem and flowers directly on the rubber and stamped on Whisper White card stock.
    Stampin up in color markers
    • The real "wow" comes from the amazing detailing that occurs when I dry emboss the stem with the Floral Frenzy Classy Brass Template.
    • Place the template face down on the light table.   TIP:  I use a bit of Dotto temporary adhesive to hold it in place.
Stampin up floral frenzy dry embossing
    • Next, line up the stems with the brass pattern.  TIP:  Rub wax paper over the surface you are going to texture before using the Stylus.  You get a better "glide."
    • TIP:  The small tip of the wooden Stylus that Stampin' Up! offers works well for details like these small flowers.
    • The corner of the image panel is rounded and layered over Rich Razzleberry Textured card stock (also sporting a rounded corner).
    • Stampin' Dimensionals provide a convenient space for the Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot ribbon to slip through.
    • A 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square of Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper (available July 1) is dolled up with a Scallop Edge border in Rich Razzleberry Textured Card Stock.
    • TIP:  The polka dots are only on one side of the ribbon.  I tie the ribbon first then gently turn the "wings" so that all the polka dots are facing up.  Very easy.
    • Three Circle Rhinestone brads in a coordinating soft orange add pop to Textured Bermuda Bay Card Stock.
    • The Whisper White card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", scored on the top.
    • I again used Stampin' Up! Markers (Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry) to create the two color image for the sentiment (stamp from Bella's Bloom).
    • It's cropped with a Large Oval Punch and layered with Stampin' Dimensionals over a Melon Mambo Scalloped Oval.

    Fresh Cuts Thank You

    Stampin up fresh cuts

I felt like going a bit out of  my comfort zone today by playing with pastels.  My inspiration was from the Color Throwdown Challenge #48 (Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Kraft).  My discovery in the process?  The new In Color, Soft Suede, is luscious with Kraft.

Soft Suede will be available July 1 with the released of the new Stampin' Up! 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog.  Need a copy?  I have them. Click here for details.

    • I inked the large block stamp from Fresh Cuts in Soft Suede and stamped on Whisper White.
    • Using a Blender Pen, I touched up the petals and leaves of the image with Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze ink.
    • I layered the image on Pink Pirouette Textured Card Stock.
    • Baja Breeze Textured Card Stock received paper piercing details and was layered over a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Kraft card base.
    • A soft and pretty piece of Pink Pirouette Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (now 25% off) accents the right hand side.  Click here for the latest update on the Stampin' Up! Last Chance Accessories List and Sale.  Ends June 30.
    • The "thank you" sentiment was inked in Soft Suede and stamped on Pink Pirouette card stock (not textured).
    • I used the new Modern Label Punch (available July 1) to give it a delightful shape and attached it with Stampin' Dimensionals.
    • See All My Sneak Peeks from the New Catalog!
Stampin up fresh cuts kraft envelope
TIP:  Simple customization of an envelope can really boost the "wow" factor of a handmade card.  Using the five petal stamp from Fresh Cuts and Soft Suede ink, I added a dose of charm to the Medium Kraft Envelope.

    Mambo Matchbox Messages

    Stampin up matchbox messages

6a00e54f95df92883401157150564a970b-500wi Boy, it felt good to find some stamping time this evening.  Such an excellent way to unwind!  My wonderful downline, the Stampin' Pretty Pals, has a private weekly challenge.  This week we relied on this hip décor for inspiration.  I focused on the pink and green colors.  Plus, the design on the cabinet doors reminded me of the frame in Stampin' Up!'s Matchbox Messages stamp set.  Click the photo to enlarge.

    • This sweet bouquet from Pocket Silhouettes was colored directly to the rubber using Stampin' Up! Markers in Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo.  Melon Mambo is part of the new In Colors Marker set available July 1.
    • TIP:  A few huffs on the marker colored stamp adds a touch of moisture for better coverage.
    • The image was stamped on Whisper White.  Using sponges and Pretty in Pink ink, I created a pink "shadow" around the edges.
    • The Matchbox Messages frame was inked in VersaMark and stamped on Old Olive card stock.  TIP:  Heat embossing with Gold Embossing Powder produces a rich finish for the frame.
    • The floral image was layered on top with Stampin' Dimensionals.  A piece of Melon Mambo rests at the base.
    • SC234 I followed the sketch from this week's Splitcoast Sketch Challenge (SC234).  Pretty in Pink Textured card stock tops Old Olive for the small rectangles.
    • A couple snippets of Melon Mambo 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon jazz up the rectangles.
    • A 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Pretty in Pink Textured card stock was layered over a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Old Olive and a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Whisper White card base (scored on the top).
    • Gold Brads mirror the gold embossing.  TIP:  Add brads before attaching the closest layer to the card base.   I try to sink my brads as deep as possible to bury the "legs," without popping through to the inside of the card.
    • Stampin up matchbox messages bigz die A piece of Melon Mambo card stock took a ride through my Big Shot Die-Cut Machine with the Matchbox Bigz XL Die.  This produced the charming tag for the sentiment.
    • The coordinating Matchbox stamp was layered over the tag using a Stamp-a-ma-jig (SAM) and Melon Mambo ink.  TIP:  I employed a little removable adhesive to keep the tag in place while I used the SAM and stamp.
    • The tag was attached with Stampin' Dimensionals.

    Tucson or Bust

6a00e54f95df928834011570bd9341970b-200wi For those of you who were getting concerned (thank you), about my absence from blogging the last fiew days,  I haven't fallen off the planet. First,  I'm surrounded by a sea of newly arrived Stampin' Up! 2009-2010 Idea Books & Catalogs, getting them ready to go to customers.  Need a new catalog, CLICK HERE!

Second, I'm moving to Tucson from Wisconsin!  My husband, daughter (age 15) and I were born and raised in Madison and love everything except the weather.  The past two winters have been especially tough and we retreated to Tucson on vacation.  This past Spring, the decision was unanimously made for more year round sunshine (my daughter is a swimmer) and an attractive winter climate in Tucson (although it's currently horribly hot in both AZ and WI).

My daughter is determined to go to the University of Arizona Tucson and we want to establish in-state residency to take the bite out of tuition.  My husband has been wanting to move to a warmer climate for 20 years.  He had no hard feelings about saying good bye to his snow blower.  Finally, I'm a big nature and birding buff and would adore living someplace where I can comfortably spend more time outdoors hiking in the mountains and singing with the coyotes (just kidding on the coyotes, sort of).

For those of you who have already learned about our move, you chief concern wasn't so much about me but rather the fate of My Stampin' Pretty Zone.  Good news!  The new Tucson home has a wonderful, light-filled loft (even a fireplace) and view of the mountains.  I think I'll survive.  I have sketched out every piece for Zone #2 and it fits beautifully.

My Stampin' Up! business and on-line presence won't be going away one bit.  My customers are currently from all over the U.S. and my virtual business model will remain unchanged.  Blogging will be a touch more sporadic during the next few weeks as we prepare for the move.  However, I still plan to create and post as much as possible (my sanity will depend on it)!

    Sneak Peek Cupcakes

    6a00e54f95df928834011570598297970c-501
What is it about cupcakes that is so charming for birthday cards?  Stampin's Up!'s The More the Merrier stamp set (Hostess Level 3, available July 1) offers a row of five sweet cupcakes, darling lined up or separated as individual elements.  My color inspiration is from Splitcoast Stamper's Color Challenge CC224 (Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Summer Sun).
    • I added VersaMarker directly to the rubber of three of the five cupcakes (one at a time) in the cupcake row stamp.  Each was stamped and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  They were cropped into 1 1/4" squares of Pacific Point and Tangerine Tango.
    • The squares were layered over 1 3/8" squares in contrasting colors. TIP:  Having both these square punches means perfect layers in seconds.
    • The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, a set of 24 versatile phrases, new for the Stampin' Up! 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog, available July 1.
    • I used a Boho Blossom Punch and 1/4" Circle Punch to produce the layered flower accent for the sentiment.
    • The four squares were layered on a single piece of Whisper White and matted on Summer Sun card stock.
    • Pacific Point 5/8" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (Now 25% Off) dresses up the base.  Click here to see the current list of the Stampin' Up! Last Chance Accessories (scheduled to retire June 30) & Sale.
    • I mixed and matched more Boho Blossom Flowers and 1/4" Circle centers along the bottom.
    • The 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Whisper White card base is scored at the top.  I cropped the bottom corners with a Corner Rounder Punch.  TIP:  Whisper White keeps things looking crisp when using a vibrant color palette.

    Mojo 92 Razzleberry Lemonade

Stampin up autumn days razzleberry lemonade
Welcome to another round of Mojo Madness.  As one of the lucky ones who gets their mojo-licious sketch (Mojo Monday 92) to design in advance, I'm ready to strut my stuff, which includes more Sneak Peeks from the new Stampin' Up! 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog, available July 1.
    • Mojo92Sketch I began by stamping a modern stem from the new Autumn Days stamp set (available July 1) in Rich Razzleberry on Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper (also new).  TIP:  Don't forget that stamping on designer paper can be a beautiful option.
    • The image panel was matted on Rich Razzleberry Textured card stock and a strip of the same, shaped with a Scallop Edge Punch, dresses up the left side.
    • After punching out a Scalloped Square in Rich Razzleberry Textured card stock, I added a Clear Button.  TIP:  Make instant coordinating "thread" by cutting a thin sliver of card stock (Pumpkin Pie used here) and carefully tying it in the button holes.
    • A Mini Glue Dot keeps the button in place, hidden below the knot.  Stampin' Dimensionals keep the entire element pumped up.
    • I used Rich Razzleberry Textured card stock to create the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base.  Gorgeous.  Note: This glorious color may finally make you stop mourning over the loss Purely Pomegranate from a couple seasons ago!
    • Pumpkin Pie Textured card stock gets a little detailing using a Paper Piercer and Template.  It's layered along with another pattern from Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper over the card base.
    • TIP:  Pretty ribbon is a splendid way to blend a seam between two different papers.  I used Rich Razzleberry 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (available July 1) to do the job.  FYI:  I got this adorable polka dot ribbon in every one of the new In Colors.  Always chic!
    • The sentiment is from another new stamp set, Teeny Tiny Wishes.  It will definitely become my latest Little Black Dress of sentiments.  With 24 mini holiday and occasions stamps (all different fonts:  très cool), these little guys will be a powerhouse for card making.  They fit within the parameters of many of Stampin' Up!'s punches (including the Small Oval Punch used here), label holders or simply hold their own layered directly to designer paper or card stock.
    • The oval sentiment is adhered with a couple Stampin' Dimensionals to Rich Razzleberry shaped with the new Modern Label Punch (one of the "it" products from the new catalog, in my opinion).
    • Two Circle Rhinestone brads from the Fire collection doll up the sides of the sentiment.
    • Stampin' Dimensionals were used to attach the sentiment to the card.

    Sneak Peek: Autumn Days

    Stampin up autumn days
I needed one last (last minute?) Father's Day card and this Pheasant from Autumn Days and three new In Colors (Dusty Durango, Soft Suede and Bermuda Bay) were just the ticket.  These items will be available with the arrival of the new Stampin' Up! 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog on July 1.

    IN_COLORS
Meet the new In Colors (available July 1).  Click here for my comparison of the new In Colors to current Stampin' Up! colors!
    • The pheasant was inked in Soft Suede and stamped on Very Vanilla.
    • I gave it a new dimension by snipping it out and adhering it with Stampin' Dimensionals to a Bermuda Bay rectangle of textured card stock (matted on Soft Suede).
    • Perpendicular, I added another rectangle of Dusty Durango Textured card stock, also matted on Soft Suede.
    • Three Very Vanilla Brads (Stampin' Up! Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware) complement the colorful panels. TIP:   I used a Paper Piercer and Template to measure and space the holes for the brads.  Neat and tidy that way :)
    • The Very Vanilla panel was textured with a très cool Texturz Plate and my Big Shot.
    • The Very Vanilla card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and scored on the top.
    • Dusty Durango card stock was cut 1/4" smaller than the card base and layered on top.
    • The sentiment is from Celebrate Everything.  It's inked and stamped on matching Soft Suede card stock.
    • The Small Oval Punch reshapes the sentiment to fit below the Hodgepodge Vanilla Label Holder and Vanilla coordinating brads.
    • TIP:  I tucked a couple Stampin' Dimensionals below the sentiment to keep it in place while attaching the label holder.  This helps it fill out the holder, too.
    • TIP:  The label holder and brads were attached to the Dusty Durango card stock before adhering to the card base.  This way the brad "legs" are buried.
    • My layout was inspired by this week's Splitcoast Sketch Challenge, SC233.  Find all my favorite challenges linked on my left side bar.

    Father's Day Squared

    SDC11013
I think I'm in a pretty small camp of stampers who actually enjoy the challenge of making a masculine card.  A simple background of punched squares, a bold sentiment and an accent of silver brads presents a crisp geometry, perfect for my husband this Father's Day!

Click here and scroll for lots of masculine samples.
    • SDC11018 The cool block sentiment is from All Holidays, a versatile occasions stamp set.  I inked it with Jet Black Stazon and stamped on Very Vanilla.
    • TIP:  Want your ink to really grab on solid stamps?  I use one of Stampin' Up!'s Sanding Blocks to gently "rough up" the solid area of the rubber.  Clean off any residue and be ready experience a nice improvement when you stamp.
    • The sentiment is adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals to Basic Gray card stock (one of my faves) and followed by Basic Black.
    •  Using a Stampin' Up! 1 1/4" Square Punch, I zipped out a modern mosaic in Basic Gray and Very Vanilla.
    • TIP:  My inspiration often comes from fashion catalogs.  A Garnet Hill catalog arrived today and I was immediately inspired by the colors and floor pattern of one of the ads (photo below).
    • Each square was adhered to a 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" card base in Basic Black.
    • Three Silver Brads jazz up the corner.  TIP:  I like to keep embellishments to a minimum on masculine cards.
