With Valentine's day just a little over a week away, I though I would pull out some of my favorite handmade Valentine's Day cards from the past. You can click on the links to get the original details. Some of the Stampin' Up! products used have retired. However, I'm hoping they provide a little valentine inspiration and you can improvise if something tickles your fancy :)
Pick a red, any red! That's the new Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge (PPA128), perfect timing with Valentine's Day on the horizon. Use red in any way on a card, upload to a blog or public gallery (for example, Splitcoaststampers) and share the link on the Pals Paper Arts challenge blog. Perhaps you'll be selected as one of the PPA Design Team Top Picks! Check out our picks from the last challenge.
The über easy candy holder was created using the Stampin' Up! Labels Collections Framelits and a few tips from Shelli Gardner (CEO and Co-Founder of Stampin' Up!) at Leadership last month. I tucked in a candy bar wrapped in Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (exclusive to the Sale-A-Bration Promotion). As an alternative, you could use a cello bag and fill with candy, little love notes, heart confetti--HAVE FUN AND EXPERIMENT!
This 1 Minute to WOW! Video Tutorial is a little over 4 minutes long . . . however, the process of creating the two pieces for the holder takes less than a minute. Decorate to your "heart's" delight!
Yes, I cropped the 1/2" Poppy Parade circles for the back, too!
My wheels began to spin with ideas and I came up with a little "doctor's bag" to hold a get well treat. I cropped the handle with the Stampin' Up! Large Oval Punch. Basic Black Textured Paper gives a "leather finish" . . . but embossing Basic Black card stock with the Stampin' Up! Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (119976) would be a very "impressive" option, too!
The sweet little 3 x 3 card is a splashy way to add a romantic message. I cropped the front at 2 3/8". I used one of the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies, new in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog, to produce the patterned (largest) heart.

This folding card includes a Stampin' Up! gift certificate recently delivered to one of my customers. Her husband told me she loves purple . . . what better than to surprise her with this Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush folding card with her gift certificate tucked inside.
Today's Stampin' Pretty 1 Minute to WOW! Video Tutorial demonstrates the simple scores and folds involved. Card stock was cut to 11 x 4 1/4" and scored with the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool the short distance at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2".
I think these pictures do a good job of sharing the "reveal" for a recipient from start to finish!

"Got Love" for a soft and pretty Valentine's Day Card? Today's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO226), is a perfect starting point. Round or Square? You decide and have fun!
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:
Stampin' Up! Nursery Nest Designer Series Paper (DSP) goes "beyond baby." It's charming for birthdays and valentines, too.
Those sweet "scallops on the scallops" were created using one of the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies (new in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog).
Marina Mist1/8" Taffeta Ribbon slips through the button holes for a polished finish. Watch my demonstrator tutorial for tips.
I pulled a few stitches at each end of the Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon (Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog) so that it would be easier to adhere and wrap flat.
My square version of today's Mojo Sketch measures 5 x 5". A coordinating pattern from Nursery Nest DSP jazzes up the flap of the 5.5" Whisper White Medium Square Envelope. Just adhere DSP to the flap and carefully snip away the excess with Paper Snips.
The Pear Pizzazz square with the personalized Family Tree stamp is an incentive for recipients to share a handmade card a second time. You're seeing the back of a removable interior message. Learn more about my Regift and Recycle Idea (video).

It's the little things. This card is so simple and a touch of scoring with the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool adds a quick and "groovy" vibe.
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:
My little "gifties" are a combination of sweet patterns from Sweet Shop Designer Series Paper and Stampin' Up! Square Punches (1 1/4" and 1 3/8"). They will find themselves "at home" on birthday cards, too.
The Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch provides a "bow-licious" detail.
Long and lean, this 6 5/8" x 3 1/4" card fits the Stampin' Up! Whisper White Small Open-End Envelope like a glove.
The sentiment and cupid (posed to send an arrow of love to the addressee) are from P.S. I Love You, new in the Occasions Mini Catalog. This is my "go to" valentine set and selected for my Top 10 Favorites from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

THANK YOU to my friend, Ellen Smallwood, for creating and sending me this adorable Valentine's Day card using snazzy new products from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. Highlights include the Fashionable Hearts Embosslits Die (125596), You're My Type rubber stamp set (W125564, C125650) and Take It to Heart rubber stamp set (W125520, C125522) tucked inside.
Ellen heat embossed the black typewriter leaving a shine reminiscent of a lacquered finish. Trés cool!
ELLEN'S TIPS FOR AN EVEN GLOSSIER FINISH: I used a really"juicy"" just reinked black pigment pad and clear embossing powder. Did you know that after embossing you can reheat the image and quickly dip in powder and heat again? I didn't do that on the typewriter card.

The retro vibe of the Sweet Cake stamp set immediately caught my attention in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. It was a simple element to employ on this week's Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge (PPA127) by Margaret Moody. Get inspired by the sketch and play along this week. All brands of products are welcome and we now offer a week for you to play!
I popped up the sentiment in a snap using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Watch my new 1 Minute to WOW! Video Tutorial (below) to learn how.
ABOUT THE MUSIC: I have had oodles of emails and comments from you asking about the music I play during my videos. Honestly, it's just a 25 second snippet of Spanish guitar that I purchased on-line so that I wouldn't infringe on any copyrights. Glad you enjoy it!
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:
Large solid stamp images can sometimes need a little "nip tuck." I used a Blender Pen and touch of Basic Black Ink to fill in a few areas that needed a bit more coverage. Watch my Blender Pen Ink Fix Tutorial.
And the "cherry" on the top? I used a Red Sharpie Marker to turn one of the new Large Pearl Basic Jewels from white to red in seconds. Works for Rhinestones Basic Jewels, too. Want to see it in action? Click here for my Coloring Rhinestones demonstrator video tutorial.
I embossed mini hearts onto a piece of Poppy Parade card stock using the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders (Occasions Mini Catalog). It's a splashy detail for the envelope flap.

"Love Is In The Air!" as the Stampin' Pretty Pals share the love with cards and projects for today's Pals Blog Hop! You've probably hopped over from #15 Nicole Watt's Impressions By Nicole Blog. I'm stop #16 and the complete line up of hoppers is below. You'll find plenty of great ideas for love themed paper projects from the talented Stampin' Pretty Pals!
I reduced the overall size of the Melon Mambo card base to 4 3/4" square. This allows me to have the heart panel (5 3/8" x 3 1/8") extend beyond the width but still fit in a Stampin' Up! Whisper White Medium Square Envelope.
I used the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool to add a subtle touch of embossing on both sides of the sentiment.
The heart stamp from P.S. I Love You (now available in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog) was heat embossed with Melon Mambo Stampin' Emboss Powder.
I mixed (separately) a bit of Cherry Scented (Clear) Stampin' Emboss Powder with the Melon Mambo Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat embossed. The recipient will get a pretty card with the scent of cherries!
Stamp Set: P.S. I Love You (W125460, C125462) Paper: Melon Mambo (115320), Whisper White (100730) Ink: VersaMark (102283), Basic Black (101179) Cool Tools: Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334), Paper Piercing Tool (116631), Mat Pack (105826), Heat Tool (100005), Embossing Buddy (103083) The Perfect Touch: Melon Mambo Stampin' Emboss Powder (123223), Cherry Scented (Clear) Stampin' Emboss Powder (127035), Basic Black 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon (124145)
Other: Whisper White Medium Square Envelope (107289)
Let's kick off Thursday with a Stampin' Pretty 1 Minute to WOW! Video Tutorial! Today's video shares a quick and easy color blocking technique used for my bitty box sentiment.
Check out the latest Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge (PPA 126) and PPA Design Team's beautiful card ideas. BIG NEWS! Don't miss today's announcement of three exciting new designers on the PPA Design Team for 2012!
The key to my color blocking technique? Don't toss the removable centers of your stamps. They make versatile stamps, too! The "stamp" used to color block the sentiment on the box is the "throw away" center of the Elementary Elegance frame stamp (available Jan. 24 as part of the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration Promotion).
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:
Everything (cards and envies) fits neatly in the bitty box. The belly band on the box slips on and off for easy access to the cards and envelopes.
Both the box and envelopes were created with the Big Shot Die-Cut Machine and the Bitty Box & Envelopes Bigz XL Die. Use the Extended Premium Crease Pad to get clean scores.
Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (Occasions Mini Catalog) was used to create the envelopes and is NOW available for purchase! Twitterpated colors include: Pear Pizzazz, Basic Gray, Island Indigo, Riding Hood Red, Blushing Bride, Baja Breeze, Whisper White. Click and print my updated Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper color chart.
The mini cards are 2" x 2".

I think the photos are going to speak for themselves today. Cindy Hall, a member of my Stampin' Pretty Pals, has designed a paper gingerbread house that will knock your socks off.
Look at the clever details like the fold out trees, candy cane doors and gumdrop roof. My jaw is still on the floor.
This jaw dropping moment has only begun. For supplies, measurements and a FREE pdf template for the gingerbread house side walls, please head to Cindy's Pretty Impact Blog!

So clever. "You're My Type" stamp set offers a bold typewriter stamp that can "roll" vintage or modern. The sentiments are both charming and versatile for many occasions. These rubber stamps will be available Jan. 4 when the customer sales period for the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog begins. I'll be sharing sneak peeks from the mini (and also peeks from Sale-A-Bration which starts Jan. 24) on my Stampin' Pretty blog throughout December (and beyond).
Click here and bookmark this link to see all my Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini and Stampin' Up! sneak peeks in one place (even as I add to them).
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:
Coverage can be tricky with a large solid stamp like the typewriter. Use a Blender Pen and ink to touch up any areas where ink doesn't transfer perfectly. Layer a bit at a time as you fill in. Watch my quick video Blender Pen Ink Fix.
Each strip of Sweet Shop Specialty Designer Series Paper (available Jan. 4) was cut to 1 1/4" x 5 1/4". Love the tiny hearts.
I used a Circle Scissor Plus and Glass Mat to create the large circles. Whisper White diameter 3 1/4". Riding Hood Red diameter 3 1/2".
Tie things up with this luscious Island Indigo Baker's Twine (available Jan. 4).

One of the benefits of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is having access to loads of exclusive resources. I recently watched a demonstrator video on how to make a snowflake rosette using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and the Lace Ribbon Border Punch.
Learn how to make your own Snowflake Rosette with my 1 Minute to WOW! Video Tutorial NOTE: It's actually closer to four minutes :)
I liked the cut out snowflake technique so much, I made two cards today using this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO218).
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:
The small flower to the right of the sentiment was snipped from a piece of Very Vanilla card stock punched with the Lace Ribbon Border Punch.
A touch of Linen Thread on the button and triple wrapped on the larger panel give a rustic look.
I used Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake Classic Ink and Sponge Daubers on the edges of the card stock.
Dazzling Details are a mess free way to add glittery sparkle to the snowflake and small flower. It's hard to see in the photo but it really pops in the light.
COMING UP: My Stampin' Up! Demonstrator pre-order arrives later today. I'm already starting to pace, waiting for the UPS truck to arrive. You got a look at her drop dead gorgeous sunflower card on yesterday's post. Today you get to witness more of the amazing papercrafting skills of Shelly Garris, a member of my Stampin' Pretty Pals. The snowy effects are beautiful and she turns "Lovely as a Tree" (a Stampin' Up! classic) into a crisp and sparkly holiday card.
Shelli doesn't have a blog but has generously provided the details of her card below.
FROM SHELLI: I’m excited and proud to present this card…it will be my Christmas card this year.
I stamped the tree in Always Artichoke, made sure it was dry then embossed “Merry Christmas”. I colored the tree trunk with Soft Suede and then made it snow. Before the craft white dried I sponged the accumulation. I wrapped Baker’s Twine around the Crumb Cake cardstock, adhered that to the Cherry Cobbler and then attached the glimmer snowflake.
