Birthday Card Basics & New WOW! Video Tutorial

Color splash alert!  Today's card plays with Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pacific Point and Peach Parfait.  All these colors were inspired by Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper (available exclusively during Sale-A-Bration).  I added one of the patterns to the envelope flap for a little coordinating polish. 

New punch behind the sentiment?  No, it's a splendid variation using the Stampin' Up! Decorative Label Punch submitted by Stampin' Pretty reader, Tracey.  She thought it would be a good idea for a 1 Minute to "WOW" Video Tutorial and I immediately agreed.  Oh, how I adore the versatility of my Stampin' Up! Punches!   
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• The fun checkerboard background was inspired by Amy Gehman, one of my Stampin' Pretty Pals, who shared this card in an earlier post.
• The 3/4" x 15/16" Oval Punch (120908) for the balloon is not in any current Stampin' Up! catalog but IS a carryover (still available) from the Holiday Mini.  Click for all Holiday Mini Carryover items.
• Quick variation . . . revamp the color palette and substitute the oval with a heart (Heart to Heart Punch, #119881).  True love!

Simple Saturday With Elizabeth & WOW Video

When it comes to card making, I believe "simple" means quick, easy and a minimal amount of supplies.  Single stamps from Stampin' Up! fit that description and are budget friendly, too.  The Elizabeth single stamp ($9.95) is nothing short of stunning and can define a card in seconds.  Just add a sentiment and go!

Now about adding that sentiment . . . I love the benefits of Stampin' Up! clear-mount stamps.  They make image placement so much easier.  However, the area for the sentiment on the  Elizabeth stamp is a bit tight for lining up quickly.  I don't trust myself "eyeballing" it--even with my reading glasses.  Plus, let's face, it don't have the patience for a Stamp-a-ma-jig on a quick card. 

Today's 1 Minute to WOW Video Tutorial shares a simple way to add a variety of sentiments and get a clean and classy look--without the work!  UPDATE:  I flipped the video so the card is right side up!

Dirty Dozen Share

Happy New Year and You're a Gem

Simplicity will be key for me in 2011.  Staying organized (not usually a problem, LOL), managing my time (always a problem--but sounds like a contradiction to staying organized) and finding even more opportunities to create are just some of my goals.  Eating healthier, continuing my walking routine (a resolution from last year) and reading more books (my recent favorite is Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver) and simply more "hang" time with my family will continue to be at the top of my resolutions list.

Simple Punched Ornaments and a WOW Video

OK, it's a tad more than a minute but I'm hoping you have an extra minute or two to watch my latest 1 Minute to "WOW" Video Tutorial.  You'll learn in a jiffy how easy it was to create today's card using a stamp from Pendant Park and several Stampin' Up! circle punches.

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIP:  You can substitute any large stamp with a pattern for Pendant Park.  Or grab some designer paper and zip out the ornaments without touching your ink!

Simple Saturday Luminaria Video Tutorial

What's a luminaria?  It's pronounced loo-muh-nair-ee-uh or loo-mee-nah-ryah (Spanish) and refers to a small light or lantern.  It's right at home in the Christmas tradition of a number of cultures and has gone very mainstream.  Learn more.

Today's 1 Minute to "WOW" Video Tutorial shows you how to create your own luminaria in a minute or two using the Stampin' Up! Snowflake Punch (119852).  It looks very spiffy above with just a battery operated tea light.  However, you can always personalize it with ribbon, buttons and stamps! 

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIP:  As an alternative, try making a luminaria with the Stampin' Up! Star (119875) or Full Heart (119883) Punches.

Simple Saturday Season of Friendship

It's Saturday and who has time to make a complicated card?  Today's card is the very essence of clean and simple.  It assembled in less than 10 minutes.  And look how short the supply list is (below).  Woo hoo!

I think Marina Mist adds a thoroughly modern spin on this set!  Please let me know what you think with a comment below.  I love hearing from you :)

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• The sweet set of leaves from the Stampin' Up! Season of Friendship stamp set are quick work when cropped with a 3/4" Circle Punch.  The same punch works beautifully with the bird, flower and snowflake from the set, too.
• I love the look of white on white.  The sentiment on Whisper White card stock gets a nice boost from Stampin' Dimensionals.  Chic and easy.
• I stamped my tree a tad high.  Yipes!  Two skinny strips of Marina Mist help rebalance the card and give it a unique finish.  A good masculine card, in my opinion.

Have a Seat for Simple Saturday

There's supposed to be a pun in this sentiment.  Fun, yes?  For today's Simple Saturday card, I used a stamp set that I coveted from the first time I saw it--Have a Seat.  I especially like the way they chairs look lined up in a trio.  Here's another way (from a previous post) to use a single chair from Have a Seat.

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIP:  With the clear-mount version of Have a Seat I was able to line them up, get the spacing right, dip in More Mustard ink and be done in a flash.

Here's the result of stamping the chairs all at once and no Stamp-a-ma-jig required :)

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIP:  Likewise, with the Sweet Shoppe Alphabet Lower (lower case), I was able to build the word "cherish" with my clear-mount version--all but the second "h."  The set includes one stamp of each letter in the alphabet.  I added the second "h" after stamping the first six letters in a row.  Still very easy to "tack on" the "h" with clear-mount.  The font is very modern and clean.

Both Have A Seat and Sweet Shoppe Alphabet are available in clear-mount and wood-mount so everyone can get their preference.

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIP:  I have said it before and I'll say it again.  The new Stampin' Up! Color Coach is a fantastic way to get the creative juices flowing.  It offers nice-sized swatches of every Stampin' Up! Color plus suggested color combinations on the back.  Not Quite Navy, Cajun Craze and More Mustard were ready to go for a Simple Saturday card.
