Sending Love and Exactly Five Swedish Fish

Stampin up stamping stampinup mary fish paper pumpkin treat bag

Yes, five is the magic number of Swedish Fish for these adorable treat bags.  Not too full.  Not too skimpy.  I made 24 of them, all courtesy of the most recent (January) Paper Pumpkin Kit. They will go to grandnieces and nephews as well as dear friends.  Such a simple way to send a little love!

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • Each combination of stamps, tag toppers, banners and more earns the wow factor from me.  However, I’m head over heels with this pretty combination of Real Red, gold foil and soft pink.  The pink and gold baker’s twine (exclusive to the kit) is absolutely yummy!

  • Did you know if you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you can order refills on many of the kits (while supplies last).
  • Rule of Thumb in My Stampin’ Studio.  If there’s a broken candy when you are assembling treat holders, you get to eat it.  Anyone else, same rule?

Stampin’ Up! prepared a video that will show you everything you receive in the January 2015 kit (all but the Swedish Fish) and how easy assembly is!

  1. I purchased my “fish” through CVS but recommend the Swedish Fish brand vs. CVS alternative–the brand candy seems to be fresher. I suggest 5 per bag for these particular treats. Hope that helps.

  2. Love my Paper Pumpkin subscription! I first ordered a three month subscription, and my last one was this January kit. When I saw this post today it reminded me that I needed to renew my subscription! I love Paper Pumpkin so much I renewed for a full year – and the bonus was I got 4 SAB items FREE plus the Hello Life project kit from the Occasions catalog that I have wanting for a while free too! So excited to have cute projects to work on every month!

  3. Your Swedish fish candy looks so pretty in the Paper Pumpkin Valentine bags. I looked Online at the Colony Store, and saw that the candy is sold by the pound. Could you tell me how much I would need to order to fill the 24 bags. Thanks, Mary!

  4. Hi Karen: “The rule” applies to all candies, including things like chipped M & M’s (any degree of candy “damage”). Make sense? Sometimes Swedish fish stick together, break or there are bits (not fully formed fish), which also qualify for “the rule.” Hugs, M

  7. I love Swedish fish and will consider Bishop Hill when I’m back in the midwest, Diana. Anyone make the connection of “fish” to my last name? That’s half the fun of sending them!

  8. What beautiful treat bags, love the little golden clips to close them up. I’ve never had a Swedish Fish so I will have to look into that, are they sweet/sour? do they taste like Cherries?
    Thank you for sharing Mary.

  9. Mary – darling idea. I live near a town called Bishop Hill, IL and the Colony Store there is full of all things Swedish – including lots of Swedish fish. Do put it on your travel list. Your videos are such fun to watch. Thanks for all your great ideas. Happy weekend!

  11. This kit made me re-subscribe to Paper Pumpkin in January. And, to my delight, I was shipped this kit right away instead of having to wait until this month to start getting my monthly kits! 🙂 And, by the way, we have that same rule in our house about broken candies … and any cookies stored on top of the refrigerator overnight are calorie free the next day as calories are afraid of heights and jump off while we sleep!
