Got Love? Valentine Card Idea

"Got Love" for a soft and pretty Valentine's Day Card?   Today's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO226), is a perfect starting point.  Round or Square?  You decide and have fun! 

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• Stampin' Up! Nursery Nest Designer Series Paper (DSP) goes "beyond baby."  It's charming for birthdays and valentines, too.
• Those sweet "scallops on the scallops" were created using one of the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies (new in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog).

• Marina Mist1/8" Taffeta Ribbon slips through the button holes for a polished finish.  Watch my demonstrator tutorial for tips.
• I pulled a few stitches at each end of the Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon (Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog) so that it would be easier to adhere and wrap flat.
• My square version of today's Mojo Sketch measures 5 x 5".  A coordinating pattern from Nursery Nest DSP jazzes up the flap of the 5.5" Whisper White Medium Square Envelope.  Just adhere DSP to the flap and carefully snip away the excess with Paper Snips.
• The Pear Pizzazz square with the personalized Family Tree stamp is an incentive for recipients to share a handmade card a second time.  You're seeing the back of a removable interior message.  Learn more about my Regift and Recycle Idea (video).

MOJO 225 & New WOW! Video

Let's start the week with a new Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO225) and 1 Minute to WOW! Video Tutorial.  Today's card is for one of my Stampin' Pretty Pals and grandma to-be.  I thought the sentiment (Stampin Up! Sweetly Said rubber stamps) was the perfect way to say congrats!

Learn how to make a charming Scallop Trim Square with my 1 Minute to WOW Video Tutorial!  REMEMBER!  Start with a 1 15/16" square for the best results!

 

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• Punch happy!  I used not only the Scallop Trim Corner Punch, I grabbed the 1 3/8" Circle, Heart to Heart and 3/16" Corner Punch to create this card.

• Bring in the reinforcements!  With the added weight of the punched layers, my Whisper White card base was struggling to stand up.  I "lined" the interior with Baja Breeze card stock and used my Bone Folder to reset the score.  Not only was it a sweet detail, my card is proudly standing at attention.

• DON'T MISS the sweet Twitterpated Designer Buttons (Occasions Mini Catalog) in Blushing Bride and Baja Breeze.  Keep them in place with Stampin' Up! Mini Glue Dots.
• A touch of Twitterpated Designer Series Paper on the Medium Square Envelope flap completes the look.

Ellen heat embossed the black typewriter leaving a shine reminiscent of a lacquered finish.  Trés cool!

ELLEN'S TIPS FOR AN EVEN GLOSSIER FINISH:  I used a really"juicy"" just reinked black pigment pad and clear embossing powder. Did you know that after embossing you can reheat the image and quickly dip in powder and heat again? I didn't do that on the typewriter card.

NEW PPA Sketch & 1 Minute to WOW! Video

The retro vibe of the Sweet Cake stamp set immediately caught my attention in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog.  It was a simple element to employ on this week's Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge (PPA127) by Margaret Moody.  Get inspired by the sketch and play along this week.  All brands of products are welcome and we now offer a week for you to play!

ABOUT THE  MUSIC:  I have had oodles of emails and comments from you asking about the music I play during my videos.  Honestly, it's just a 25 second snippet of Spanish guitar that I purchased on-line so that I wouldn't infringe on any copyrights.  Glad you enjoy it!

 

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• Large solid stamp images can sometimes need a little "nip tuck."  I used a Blender Pen and touch of Basic Black Ink to fill in a few areas that needed a bit more coverage.  Watch my Blender Pen Ink Fix Tutorial.
• And the "cherry" on the top?  I used a Red Sharpie Marker to turn one of the new Large Pearl Basic Jewels from white to red in seconds.  Works for Rhinestones Basic Jewels, too.  Want to see it in action?  Click here for my Coloring Rhinestones  demonstrator video tutorial.
• I embossed mini hearts onto a piece of Poppy Parade card stock using the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders (Occasions Mini Catalog).  It's a splashy detail for the envelope flap.

Label Luscious Stamping Spaces

A few weeks ago, I shared my excitement about the Brother P-Touch Labeling System with a video tutorial.  I have the PT-70 model and have seen it available at many office supply stores for around $19.99.  Many of you expressed in your comments that you have been using the P-Touch, too.  My label luscious honeymoon continues as I tidy up the labels for my ink pads stored in the Stampin' Up! Color Caddy (photo above).

I stack my 12 x 12 Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper (DSP) on clear trays.  Stampin' Up! 12 x 12 Dividers with crisp, new labels make it easy to find exactly what I need (without my reading glasses--LOL).  STAMPIN' PRETTY TIP:  The labels stay in place but remove easily for re-use of Dividers when new DSP arrives!

For those Stampin' Up! products that are no longer in the catalog but have been carried over (still available for purchase), I updated my Idea Book and Catalog with labels.  See Complete List of Holiday Mini Carryover Items.

I labeled the spine of my Stampin' Up! Clear-Mount Stamp Case, perfect storage for the new Framelits Dies (Occasions Mini Catalog). 


I cut three strips of  Stampin' Up! Magnet Sheets.  They hold the Framelits Hearts or Labels Collections solidly in place.

"Stay" with Mojo Monday 224

Welcome to another Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO224).  Today's card is a playful spin on vintage using Stampin' Up! Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper (new in the Occasions Mini Catalog).STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• Stop the presses!  I sponged!  To add soft dimension, I sponged a touch of Whisper White Craft Ink on the edges of the Crumb Cake card stock.
• After running a snippet of Stampin' Up! White Baker's Twine through my buttons, I attached them with Mini Glue Dots--a good bet that they will stay put.

• I used the Circles #2 Originals Die for the 2" Poppy Parade Circle.
• A sweet Poppy Parade Brad offers a SNEAK PEEK from the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack (available Jan. 24).

• For a finishing touch, I lined a Crumb Cake envelope with a coordinating piece of Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper.

Pals Guest Stamper: Joyce P

Joyce Page, a member of my Stampin' Pretty Pals, is today's Pals Guest Stamper.  She created the chic and simple card above using the Stampin' Up! Framelits Labels Dies and Adorning Accents coordinating dies and embossing folders--all new products in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog.  Her colors were inspired by last week's Pals Paper Arts Challenge.

Since she doesn't have a blog (oh, how we would ALL love to see more of her work), Joyce wanted to share a savvy tip with you below.  She used the Stampin' Up! Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die for her example!  Be sure to leave any comments for Joyce about her card or tip at the end of this post. 

JOYCE'S TIP:  I bought a package of sticker paper for the computer at Staples and cut it the size of my dies and put it on the black face.  I then ran it through the Big Shot. The picture shows how nice it works so that you can see exactly were to put your paper when you just want to cut one thing.

My dear customer and stamping friend, Maria, surprised me with flowers this week.

I love how the petals are tipped in green.  Many of the yellow lilies have bloomed since this photo was taken.  Beautiful!

FABULOUS TIP!  Several of my Stampin' Pretty blog readers contacted me regarding yesterday's Framelits video tutorial.  They shared that using a sticky note to hold the Framelits die in place on it's journey through the Big Shot works as a temporary adhesive. Genius!  Thanks for the heads up, guys!

Stampin' Up! Framelits Video Tutorial

They cut with precision, layer beautifully and are the hot ticket in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog.  The new Framelits Dies (available in Hearts and Labels collections) are easy to use with the Big Shot Die-Cut Machine.  I'm willing to bet there will be many more shapes on the horizon!I used the Framelits Labels Collection Dies and the coordinating Apothecary Art stamp set (also new in the Occasions Mini Catalog).

Today's Stampin' Pretty Video Tutorial shares the simple pathway to perfect Framelits results. 

 

JOYFOLD CARD:  A joyfold card is simply two intersecting cards.  My base card began with an 8 1/4" x 4 1/4" piece of Island Indigo card stock which was scored with my Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool at 5 1/2".  The smaller card was originally cut to 8" x 3 1/4" and scored at 4"
