What a yummy blend of patterns from Stampin' Up! Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper!  Nancy Gleason, today's Stampin' Pretty Pals Guest Stamper, popped out these precious stockings using the Stocking Builder Punch.  Zero in on the clever half circle and brad on the sentiment and the Mini Jingle Bells.  So festive and charming!

Snickerdoodle Snowflake Cookie Stamp

I continue to experiment (the "lab" results are delicious) with the Stampin' Up! Cookie Stamps.  My conclusion?  The "innie" stamps (like the snowflake and heart) work best if I roll the dough in about a 1" ball, flatten them with the stamp and then bake. The size remains pretty consistent this way. The image is softer but still festive and fun, even with cinnamon sprinkled on top. 

For the "outie" stamp (like the pumpkin--see cookie below), I think it works best to bake according to directions and stamp about a minute AFTER the cookies are removed from the oven.  My daughter baked the cookies below.

Another helpful tip from my fellow blog readers, try dusting a little powdered sugar on the stamp before stamping the dough.  Recipes and ovens vary so you may need to experiment a bit on your own.  For further Stampin' Up! Cookie Stamp product information, click here.   ANYBODY HUNGRY?

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• I experimented with different methods to apply the ink to the Silver Glimmer Paper and preferred using a dauber and a drop or two of reinker.  Different colors may have different results.  Please let me know with a comment below if you have tried this method and your experience with other colors.
• IMPORTANT!  The ink doesn't dry very quickly with this technique (seriously, it was still wet after a couple hours).  Use a Heat Tool to set the color pronto.
• I used my Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool to add a little embossing to the horizontal panel (on the Soft Suede portion).
• My trusy Simply Scored Tool also helped me whip up the custom envelope for this 5" x 3 1/2" card (Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper).  I cut a 8" x 6 1/4" rectangle and scored the long direction 1/2"  in from each side (or 1/2" and 5 3/4").  Next, I flipped it 90 degrees and scored at 1 3/4" and 5 1/2".  Watch My Easiest Envelope Ever Video Tutorial for the simple finishing details.

PPA121 Stampin' Up! Basic Pearls

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you have a special day planned to share time and delicious food with loving friends and family.  My husband, Scott, daughter, Caroline, and I will be visiting my sister and her daughter (visiting from New York City).  We are planning to watch the Packers game (we're originally from WI--AKA Cheeseheads) and prepare a feast!

• I cropped about 3/4" off the right front of my card.  The scallop edge border looks so splashy against the polka dot background.

Clean and simple (CAS) card ideas will be a welcome relief during a busy holiday week!  I'll be serving up plenty of simplicity on my Stampin' Pretty blog all week long!  

Today's 6 1/2" x  3 1/4" card is the essence of CAS.   A simple trio of colorful stems along with a little scoring to juice up the sentiment lead to instant chic!  PLEASE LEAVE ME A COMMENT below with your feedback on today's card and any questions. Your comments keep me inspired and motivated!

STAMPIN PRETTY TIPS:

• Each rectangle for the stems measures       1 1/4" x 1 3/4".  They look pretty snappy popped up with a Stampin' Dimensional and layered over the frame created with the Scallop Rectangle Clearlits Die.
• For a coordinated pairing, I added the tree stamp (all images are from Stampin' Up! Funky Four) to the Whisper White Open End Envelope.
• Inspiration is everywhere.  I saw similar colors and a leaf pattern on a backpack someone was wearing at the bakery.  The combo stuck with me until I could translate it into this card.
• I stamped the word "gratitude" (Fabulous Phrases stamp set) first.  Next, my Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool allowed me to line up and double score (1/8" apart) on either side of the sentiment for a simple, sophisticated touch.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #216 should get your stamping ideas flowing.  I used Stampin' Up! Pool Party Textured Card Stock for the horizontal strips.  The combination of Pool Party, Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black are so crisp and "wintery" together, especially against Whisper White.  Consider a trio of pretty designer series paper patterns as an alternative . . .

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• Layering Whisper White on top of a Whisper White card base (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) is a quick way to create a "faux emboss"  look.

SANDIE'S TIPS:

I simply trimmed Santa down, added some dazzling details to his beard and cuffs and matted him on some different bits of punch and embossed cardstock.  The sentiment also came from the same piece of DSP, just trimmed down to fit.  The great thing about this size card is that it can fit in a standard size #10 envelope.  You will need just about a whole sheet of cardstock to make the base of the card, but it packs a great impact.

Smooth "Snail-ing" & New WOW! Video!

Nothing can be more frustrating than inking up a solid stamp and ending up with less than perfect coverage on your card stock.  At times, a little image imperfection can look vintage and chic.  However, I typically like a crisp and complete image.  Today's 1 Minute to WOW! Video Tutorial shares a simple way to use a Stampin' Up! Blender Pen to "fill in" the gaps without having to start over (including a before and after sample).

 

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS: 

• For better coverage with background and solid stamps, I prefer to flip the stamp rubber up and add ink with the pad facing down.  I keep "patting" ink on the rubber image until I can see that it is evenly covered.  Here's the snail stamped with this method.  No touch up required :)
• I have tried to use a marker to touch-up uneven images.  However, the markers can leave a dark, noticeable spot where you have corrected.  The Blender Pen remedy is a softer look that you can control.

Stampin' Up! Snowman Holiday Card & PPA 120

 

Let it snow!  This week's Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge (PPA120, sketch by Margaret Moody) sets the stage for my Button Buddies snowman and Stampin' Up! STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• Just add buttons!  The images from the Stampin' Up! Button Buddies rubber are designed with buttons in mind.  See all Button Buddies stamp images (including my dapper snowman) at the end of today's post.
• The embossed frame was created using my Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folders Set.
• Jewels Basic Rhinestones add instant bling to the snowman's buttons and the center of my punched snowflake.
• I snipped out a tiny triangle of Cherry Cobbler card stock for my snowman's nose.
• Frostwoods Lodge Designer Series Paper dresses up both the card and envelope.

Cards From My Stampin' Up! Pals

I have three gorgeous cards to share with you today that were created and sent to me by members of my demonstrator downline, the Stampin' Pretty Pals.

Dawn Tidd did a wonderful job showing off the Stampin' Up! Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper on this classy Joy-Fold Card (both photos above).  Check out Dawn's blog!  Here are a few tips and measurements for creating your own Joy-Fold Card.

Texture and coloring are Ginger Toivonen's forte.  This giraffe ( Zoo Review stamp set) is a handsome dude.  The sentiment is stamped on Stampin' Up! Wood Sheets.

Nancy Gleason combined a luscious mix of Calypso Coral, Basic Gray and Very Vanilla in her simple but striking design.  I love how she used the Oval Punch as a vase.  Click to visit Nancy's blog.

Mojo 215 & NEW 1 Minute to WOW! Video

A snazzy embossed background can define a pretty card.  I added VersaMark Ink to the inside of my Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The result?  An artful richness that makes the embossing come alive.  Today's 1 Minute to WOW! Video Tutorial shows you the super simple procedure!

 

This week's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO215) jumpstarted the ideas for my card design. 

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• The layered butterfly combines a crop from the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die (Lucky Limeade) and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.  Did you notice that these little beauties nest perfectly?  I used a touch of VersaMark on the edges for definition.
• To keep the card simple, I used  Stampin' Up! Printed Designer Brads in two different spots, merely changing the colors.  A huge benefit of using Stampin' up! products is that it's so easy to coordinate within color collections.
• Stampin' Up! Builder Punches get amazing mileage.  The two stems are from the Bird Builder Punch.
• Solid Versamark coverage on the finished background looks lovely.  However, I think the effect of an uneven inking is an even more engaging effect.  Take a look at this background before I added the embellishments.
