Are you a glutton for buttons?  I love the pop of dimension and style they instantly add to any project.  This week's Pals Paper Arts Challenge (PPA62) is to use a button on a papercrafting project . . . so easy.  I even made two cards for you today!

Thrilla in Vanilla

Today's card is oh so very, Very Vanilla.  I love the look of faux embossing by simply using vanilla on vanilla card stock.  This crisp and masculine card is headed to my nephew who lives and teaches in Chicago.

MOJO158 and a New "Wow!" Video Tutorial

How about starting off Monday with a WOW?  Today's Mojo Monday Sketch (MOJO158) by Julee Tilman will get your wheels turning.  Plus, I whipped up another 1 Minute to "Wow!" Video Tutorial (you told me liked the first one) to help busy stampers create pretty cards and details in a flash.

Something as simple as adding a rhinestone or threading a skinny piece of card stock through button holes can really zip up the "wow" factor on a paper project.  DID YOU KNOW that the Stampin' Up! 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon slips neatly through the holes of most of our larger Designer Buttons? 

I first discovered this delightful detail thru a card shared by one of my Stampin' Pretty Pals, Katy McGloin.  Here's my 1 Minute to "Wow!" Video Tutorial to demonstrate this quick tip.  Note:  Stampin' Up! Taffeta Ribbon is my favorite for tying knots.  Very "cooperative."

 

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• The clear mount version of the Aviary stamp set made popping this charming owl in his cage a snap.  I find it easiest to stamp the cage first and then layer the bird.
• Black Flourish Designer Jewels bring on the bling for both the flowers and the top corner of the focal point.  I use the sharp ends of my Paper Snips to remove stick-on jewels and slide them off right where I want them.
• My inspiration was this Ethan Allen advertisement.  The striking mix of deep pink and black grabbed my attention.

Day of Gratitude Ideas

As part of my Stampin' Up! Founder's Circle visit in St. George, UT, last week, we were treated to our very own 1/2 day regional training.  I love indulging in new ideas and pretty papercrafts with my fellow demonstrators.  This was a delightful bonus!

The cards above and below were made by fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrators at my Make and Take table.  Everyone collectively completed the projects that Stampin' Up! provided.  There's always something fresh and new.  I was assigned to another project for the group which I'll share soon.

Simple Saturday Season of Friendship

It's Saturday and who has time to make a complicated card?  Today's card is the very essence of clean and simple.  It assembled in less than 10 minutes.  And look how short the supply list is (below).  Woo hoo!

I think Marina Mist adds a thoroughly modern spin on this set!  Please let me know what you think with a comment below.  I love hearing from you :)

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• The sweet set of leaves from the Stampin' Up! Season of Friendship stamp set are quick work when cropped with a 3/4" Circle Punch.  The same punch works beautifully with the bird, flower and snowflake from the set, too.
• I love the look of white on white.  The sentiment on Whisper White card stock gets a nice boost from Stampin' Dimensionals.  Chic and easy.
• I stamped my tree a tad high.  Yipes!  Two skinny strips of Marina Mist help rebalance the card and give it a unique finish.  A good masculine card, in my opinion.

How about a sneak peek from the Stampin' Up! Tuesday Tutorial: Coordinating Punches

Whenever Stampin' Up! releases a stamp set that coordinates with punches, it makes my wish list.  I love the clean look of a punched image and the quick avenue to "wow" it provides.

My nephew and his wife welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world this week.  I wanted to celebrate Miss Lily B.'s arrival with a personalized card.  The Stampin' Up! Broadsheet Alphabet stamp set allows me to do exactly that.  Each letter of the set has a delightful personality.

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• I have the Broadsheet Alphabet in the Clear-Mount Version.  It makes placing and spacing the letters a snap.
• The sweet printed pattern and fancy die cut border are from Nursery Suite Specialty Designer Series Paper.  There are many uses beyond baby!
• The baby tee was isolated from the Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel.  It's snipped out and popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.
• Three layered Stampin' Up! Oval punches really jazz up the sentiment with color and style.

It's time for another Pals Paper Arts Weekly challenge (PPA60).  Check out the "Wicked" inspired samples by the PPA Design team and try your own hand at a little "wicked" project, too.  Grab your broom!

I think it looks like a leaded glass window.  Using the Lattice Biz Die (a Stampin' Up! Exclusive design) and playing with the bits and pieces of several colors (like a jigsaw puzzle), produces a colorful new look for my card below . . . Bargello Video Tutorial & Pals Halloween Hop

Get ready to watch my new Bargello Video Tutorial and the September PALS HOP! NEW VIDEO!  What is Bargello (pronounced bahr-jel-lo)?  According to Wikipedia, Bargello is a type of  needlepoint embroidery consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. The name originates from a series of chairs found in the Bargello Palace in Florence, which have a "flame stitch" pattern.

Sounds complicated, right?  Well, it takes only minutes to create a similar pattern with Stampin' Up! striped designer series paper.  I created a video tutorial to show you how I used paper to create a Bargello look for today's "spooky" card.

Oh, Baby, It's Mojo Monday!

Oh, baby!  I haven't needed a card to celebrate a wee one in ages.  However, I needed two this week. The second will be this featured on Stampin' Pretty this Friday.  My favorite part of this card is the striped onesie (directions below).  Plays on my maternal heart strings.

I used this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO156) to kick things off!

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

• The onesie was created by using the Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel.  I inked it up (an ink pad or marker is fine) and rolled it out on the back side of the designer paper (taking care where the stripes would be when cut). 
• I then snipped it out with my Paper Snips and cropped the legs and neck with an Oval Punch.
• The Chocolate Chip hearts on the onesie and covering the word "heart" on the sentiment were created using the Heart to Heart Punch.
• The Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch in Regal  Rose makes a sweet little scallop border.
• Keep your ribbon in place.  Learn how with my No Slide Ribbon Video Tutorial.
• The charming patterns from Stampin' Up! Nursery Suite Specialty Designer Series Paper work beyond the nursery.  Colors include Regal Rose, Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip and Pear Pizzazz.

Cindy's Storybook

Once in awhile I see a paper craft project that literally stops me in my tracks.  It is so unique, pretty and well-executed that you can't wait to see more and learn how it was done.  Cindy Major, my friend and  fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator from Canada, has managed to bring me to a screeching halt with this fantastic storybook.  I'm proud to feature her as today's guest.  Here's a link to her blog.

CINDY'S INSTRUCTIONS:   To create the cover, I folded a piece of Real Red cardstock in half, covered it with a piece of adhesive sheet the same size, took the protective peeling off and added the fabric on my cardstock. (Granted, it would have been easier to use the fabric adhesive sold in the Holidays minicatalogue, but I didn't have it at the time.) Then, I ran the folded cardstock through the Big Shot using the Scallop Square die, making sure the fold was inside the shape. Then, I folded smaller-sized Baja Breeze cardstock sheets in two and used the Crop-a-Dile to punch holes through the pages for binding. I used a strip of polka dot fabric to create the binding of my book and tied the ends in a pretty bow on the front, using a piece of satin ribbon folded around the middle of the bow to decorate it further.

 

The white rickrack on the cover page was created using the Tasteful Trims die and some white fun foam.

To create every illustration, I always started with sponging inside a negative mask made with the new 2-1/2 in. Circle punch. The stories were printed on Shimmery White paper with my printer, but I used the Broadsheet Alphabet to stamp the first letter of each stories, which I then decorated with a rhinestone.
