Here's a tutorial using the Décor Elements Dry Goods set (Hostess Level 1) to jazz up inexpensive ceramic canisters I purchased at Walmart. Wait until you see what Décor Elements can do to add pizzazz to a lap top!
TIP: Décor Elements hostess gifts are available options on any Stampin' Up! product order of $150 or more (including on-line orders).
Cut out the element you want to use. It consists of a transfer sheet and backing sheet. Be sure to have the Stampin' Up! Applicator Tool (114285, $1.95) ready.
Flip the element over to expose the backing (grid) side. Use the applicator tool to gently rub the entire image. This transfers the backing sheet to the transfer sheet.
The keyword here is "slowly." Slowly peel away the sticky transfer sheet on an angle, being careful to avoid touching anything or allowing it to fold back on itself.
TIP: If you see that the image is not transferring completely, carefully lay it back down on the backing sheet and continue to rub/transfer per the step above. Much like a rub-on.
Be smart and measure/mark your "receiving" surface in advance for precise placement. I have to confess I eyeball it but that's pretty risky (you don't get a second chance) and is only a symptom of my impatience :) Lay the sticky sheet and image on your surface (sticky side down) and use the applicator tool to gently rub and transfer, starting at the center.
Carefully and slowly peel back the transfer sheet at an angle. If part of the image has not transferred, lay the transfer sheet back down and continue to gently rub with the applicator tool.
Once the image has transfered, you can use your hand to smooth the image.
TIP: Décor Elements adhere to:
- Smooth, nontextured drywall walls painted with matte or glossy paint
- Other smooth, nontextured surfaces, such as glass or metal
- Smooth or nontextured wallpaper
- Flat, smooth, finished wood surfaces such as paneling or doors
- Not recommended on textured or uneven surfaces, brick, oil-based surfaces
