Sneak Peek: Lots of Bots

Does this compute to cute?  The Lot of Bots stamp set will be available in the Stampin' Up! 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog beginning July 1.  Here's a peek at the new In Colors.

• I stamped my robot with Jet Black Stazon Ink on Whisper White card stock and Stampin' Up!'s new In Color Bermuda Bay card stock.
• Time for the Paper Snips!  I dissected pieces from the Bermuda Bay image and adhered to the white base.
• For the hat and eyes, I grabbed the new Bermuda Bay Stampin' Write Marker.
• The image was cropped using a Circle Scissor Plus and Glass Mat.  TIP:  The beauty of the Circle Scissor Plus is that you can create circles in any size from 1" to 6".  Even itsy, bitsy increments.
• I "dialed" the Circle Scissor Plus up 1/4" and cropped the Basic Black circle.  The robot image was adhered to the black mat with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Nifty.
• A nuts and bolts stamp from Lots of Bots was inked in Jet Black Stazon and stamped on Bermuda Bay card stock for a fun patterned paper.
• The sentiment is part of the same robot stamp.  TIP:  To isolate only the text, I inked up the sentiment area and used a post-it to cover the rest of the robot before stamping.
• A Small Oval Punch gave it a new figure.
• NEW TOOL!  That's the work of Stampin' Up!'s new Modern Label Punch tucked behind in Basic Black.   It's dashing with a sentiment on it's own or as the snazzy backdrop featured.
• The punch and sentiment were layered on Bermuda Bay Textured card stock.  TIP:  Starting with the new catalog, Stampin' Up!'s Assorted Textured In Color card stock will come in both 12 x 12 and 8.5 x 11 sizes.
• The 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base is scored at the top.  TIP:  For a more polished look,  I fold the score so that the indentation is on the outside and the raised area ("bump") is on the inside.
• The perfect touch (and I mean "perfect") is Stampin' Up!'s coordinating Bermuda Bay Polka Dot 1/2" Grosgrain Ribbon.  It's incredibly easy to work with (no slipsy, slidey want to toss it in the garbage stuff going on).  The ribbon will be available on July 1 in all six new In Colors.

Bye Bye Bella Blossoms

Did you know this pretty Bella Blossoms stamp set (the sentiments are fabulous) is still available?  It's not in the catalog but part of the Stampin' Up! Many of the accessories and colors used in today's card will be retiring on June 30.  Click here for the Last Chance Accessories List & Sale (inventory updated 6/3/09).  My color choices, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango, are part of this week's Splitcoast Color Challenge CC231.  The layout is from Splitcoast Sketch Challenge SC231.

• I used Riding Hood Red Textured card stock to create a rich 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base.
• It's topped with Tangerine Tango Textured card stock.
• The big Bella Blossoms flower was inked in Kiwi Kiss and stamped on Very Vanilla card stock.
• I cropped the Very Vanilla panel to 3 3/8" x 5", centering the flower as much as possible.
• The image panel was cut into three strips 1 1/8" wide and layered on the Tangerine Tango background.
• I dipped the "best wishes" sentiment in Jet Black Stazon and stamped it on Tangerine Tango.  TIP:  For a crisp, black image, Jet Black Stazon is my top choice.
• The sentiment was cropped with a Large Oval Punch and layered with a couple Stampin' Dimensionals over a Riding Hood Red Scallop Oval.  The Scallop Oval Punch is available in the Occasions Mini Catalog.
•  A strip of Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon is tucked behind.  The vanilla trim is absolutely charming.  Grab this easy to use ribbon on the Last Chance Accessories List at 25% off before it's gone!
  
• My final touch was Tangerine Tango and Riding Hood Red Textured card stock shaped with a Photo Corners Punch.
• Three Black Brads from Stampin' Up!'s Vintage Brad Collection add depth to the corner piece and balance the black text in the sentiment.
• I attached the Photo Corner element with Stampin' Dimensionals for a 3-D effect.

Ready to kick start your mojo today?  Here's this week's Mojo Monday 89 (MOJO89) and my interpretation of the sketch. 

Aren't the colors of the Urban Oasis Designer Series Paper (Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Basic Black and Kraft) luscious? 

• Begin with a 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" card base of Baja Breeze Textured card stock.
• I layered Urban Oasis Designer Series Paper over Kiwi Kiss Textured card stock (5" x 5") and adhered to the card base.
• TIP:  A strip of Baja Breeze Textured card stock adhered horizontally transitions the Designer Paper to the Kiwi Kiss.
• The sentiment (one of my faves) is from the Full of Life stamp set.  This set is not in the Stampin' Up! catalog but IS available.  Click to Download All Dormant Stamps.
• I layered the sentiment over Baja Breeze Textured card stock and wrapped Kraft Taffeta Ribbon around the whole works.
• Using a Circle Scissor Plus, I easily cropped the modern black and kraft pattern from Urban Oasis and the larger Kraft card stock circle underneath. TIP:  This tool is becoming indispensable to me!
• The sentiment was adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals per the Mojo Layout.
• A pretty finish is achieved using Stampin' Up! Flower Fusion (Old Olive) and Flower Fusion Too (Baja Breeze) felt flowers.  TIP:  No need to obsess over exact matching.  So far, I have not been arrested for using an Old Olive flower with Kiwi Kiss as the "other green."  A little variance adds personality
• Each flower is accented with a Silver Brad.

I'm adding designer series paper to many of my envelopes these days.  It's such a splendid polish and so easy to do either on the inside of the card or adhered to the outside flap. 

TIP:  Conserve your designer paper.  For lining the inside of the card, there's no need to have the designer paper run all the way down the inside of your envie.  Just cover what shows plus about half an inch tucked in.
